Shop Introduction: When it comes to diving spots in Fukui Prefecture, Echizen is the place to go. During summer vacation, university student instructors are stationed here. The diving points are beach entries, making it a relaxed spot for OW to AD-level divers to enjoy. While the facility is small, it's an ideal location for experiencing the charm of rural Japan.
Shop Information: The facility includes three showers, one restroom, a changing room, an area to wash gear, and a drying area. We provide tea, and there is free parking nearby. All diving equipment rentals are available.
Diving Spot: The maximum depth is 7 meters (average 5 meters), so even beginners can feel at ease. It's just a 3-minute walk to the diving point. On clear days, the sunset over the sea is breathtaking.

Shop Rules
It takes about three hours by rental car from central Osaka, so the plan typically involves a one-night, two-day trip.
We can recommend nearby guesthouses for accommodations: around 12,000 yen per night with two meals, or about 8,000 yen for lodging only. We can also recommend you a Japanese style accommodation between 15,000yen to 20,000yen.
Meals include seafood dishes like sashimi and grilled fish, so if you’re not fond of seafood, you can opt for lodging only and pick up meals at a nearby convenience store. Underwater guiding is done by student instructors.
If waves are forecasted to exceed 1.5 meters, we will close. The wind may also lead to closures. Visibility is around 10 meters throughout the season. Before diving, there will be a quick check (like mask clearing and regulator clearing).
The sea in front of the facility is shallow and designed for leisurely diving, so there are no large creatures or dramatic landscapes. This program is about enjoying a rural stay and connecting with Japanese culture and university students.

Getting Here
By Car (Approx. 3 Hours)
From central Osaka or Kyoto, take the Meishin Expressway and connect to the Hokuriku Expressway. Exit at Tsuruga IC and follow Route 8 northbound. At Ōhida, enter the Shiosaze Line and continue north for about 20 minutes. You will see Minshuku Araya on the right-hand side. Please use the parking area in front of the guesthouse.
By Train
From JR Osaka Station or Kyoto Station, take the Limited Express Thunderbird to Tsuruga (approx. 1 hour 20 minutes).
From Tsuruga, take the Happi Line Fukui Railway to Takefu Station (approx. 30 minutes) Then take the Fukui Railway Bus Takefu–Echizen Coast Line (bound for Kareizaki) from Takefu Station and get off at Mohara bus stop (approx. 1 hour 10 minutes).

Recommended Schedule for Train Travelers
Because of the limited bus schedule, we recommend:
・Day 1: Arrive in Echizen and enjoy 1 dive
・Day 2: Enjoy 1 morning dive before departure
This allows for a relaxed countryside diving stay while making the most of your visit to Echizen.
