Yonaguni, one of the Yaeyama Islands, is the westernmost inhabited island of Japan, lying 108 km from the east coast of Taiwan, between the East China Sea and the Pacific Ocean proper.
The island has an area of 28.88 km2.
The average temperature is 23.9 °C, and annual precipitation of 3000 mm.
It is located at the westernmost point of Japan. Taiwan is said to be visible on a clear day.
The dynamic ocean around Yonaguni Island is extremely unique as huge school of hammerhead sharks and the mysterious underwater rock formations attracts divers from all over the world.
The visibility can go up to 50m depending on the condition.
